Introduction

The Zeus pod drive system is an integrated package which provides propulsion and steering control for recreational and light commercial boats, and is available with Cummins QSB, QSC or QSM engines. The Zeus system includes the following components:

Engines and their mounting
– Pods and their mounting
– Drive shafts, drive shaft shields, exhaust system.
– Counter-rotating propellers on each pod.
– Helm controls: steering column, control levers, joystick, trim tab panel,
DTS pad, autopilot pad, E-stop, keyswitches
– Auxiliary joystick station controls: joystick, auxiliary joystick pad, E-stop

The Zeus pods provide steerable thrust from the rearward-facing, counter-rotating propellers. The pods are designed to be mounted inside tunnels to improve efficiency, the tunnels being wide enough to allow the lower drive units to rotate to port and starboard to provide steering control. The thrust angle of the pods is typically parallel with the vessel keel. The Zeus pods also include integrated trim tabs which are controlled automatically (or can be controlled manually).
